It seems like people are stepping away from WB for periods of time, but it seems like a lot of people here also have Facebook accounts.
The catch is that you need their real name. I think this thread is a good spot to post your actual name if you want people to add you on facebook.

I just joined Facebook this week. Haven't figured out all its possibilities yet. Just what I need - another website to spend too much time on!

Just join the AT Groups on Facebook. From there you can keep up with folks.

A lot of people (me included) incorporate our trail name in our real name on Facebook. That would me my suggestion to any hiker who registers on Facebook and wants WB friends to recognize them over there.

Trailjournals is a good way to find links to people on Facebook. Many people's journals nclude their real name, or an e-mail address. Mr. Kirby, I just found you on Facebook very easily -- went to your Trailjournal, found your e-mail address on the first page, and walla! There you were.
Personally, I don't necessarily want people to find me on Facebook. I reserve that for people I've actually met in person, for my "real" friends and family and hiking buddies.
