Like climbing Kilimanjaro in 2003?
Yeah. People are bored and need to get out and hike.

First official day of Spring tomorrow. Maybe that will help. I seem to have caught the bug myself. Never now when it might hit. Feels great.

I'll miss Whiteblaze when I'm away for the next two weeks (March 20th -23rd, hut trip!..followed by two weeks of playing in Utah and AZ until ~ April 5th).

...or maybe not. ;)

Spring(er) Fever is hitting to say the least.

Go outside, hike..enjoy.

Those threads are still open and haven't been closed or moved.
Nothing wrong with those threads.
Still yummy.

Unless they're just taking up bandwidth and disc space.:-?

To be fair, the old dredged up posts are WAY better than the recent nonsense that's been taking up bandwidth.

I agree wholeheartedly.

(But some people do not. Like the administrator who's been PMing me who shall remain nameless.:-?)

It is one thing to dig up old posts that are useful and another things to dig up old posts that are that have no cause or for meaningless reasons.

An honest question: Who decides what threads "that are that have no cause or for meaningless reasons" (whatever that means.)?

Is Rock's Hiker Lexicon useless or meaningless?

Seriously, if a thread is useless, meaningless and/or serves no purpose, close it or put it where nobody can find it. Better yet, threads that involve weather reports or someone saying, "Toodles, I'm gong hiking now!" might be good candidates for DELETION. Unless you've got unlimited disc space and bandwidth to play with.

Meanwhile, it's probably very bad form to ban people who post to them.
I'm not the one with the problem here.

No, you know what I am talking about.

I am talking about threads like these:

Like I said, it's simple:
Trash the threads to which you disapproved of anyone posting.

Problem solved!
I'm not the problem here; I'm not making a problem and I'm not picking fights.

Like I said, maybe some of the trouble around here is that some are spending a little too much time trying to control what people do instead of just leaving well enough alone and letting users be users.

We are the users after all.

What you are doing has nothing to do with people being to controlling. You are trying to turn an ant hill into a mole hill.
Control has nothing to do with you bringing back threads that are done and over with an have no need to be brought back to life.
We have over 40,265 threads posted on this web site and the moderators do not have time to start closing threads as they see fit. You would start complaining if they started doing that. I am sure you would say that they were being to controlling by closing threads when they may not be ready to be closed.
The moderators and administrators volunteer their time here freely and no one gets paid to to help take care of the web site, not even me. We do not have time to start closing threads as we see fit.

All it takes is a little common sense to see that the thread has no needed to be reopened.

End of discussion I can see and so does everyone else where you are going with this.
