The wife and I are planning to do the stretch between NY 17A and West Mombasha Rd as a day hike in a couple of weeks. Would be interested in any info anyone can provide about things to watch out for, nice views, difficulty, etc.

Biggest question: Is there, or is there not, parking at West Mombasha Rd.? The guidebook says no. The map, on the other hand, says yes. The Rohland website says there is room on the shoulder for 3-4 cars. So, which is it? Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mombasha High Point is nice, can see the skyscrapers. I thoght 17a had that great ice cream shop just down the road.

burger, he already cited Rohland's website...

I did 17a to w mombasha (actually sectioned to wawayanda over 3 days) in late october. You can read about it on my website (http://thetrailwiki.org/3-Day_AT_Hike_October_11th_-_13th_%28Thomas_Worman%29) under the "Saturday" section of my journal. Pretty standard hiking.

If I remember correctly, W Mombasha was recently Re-Paved and has some shoulder space for cars.

Just be careful when crossing some of those roads, cars whip around them insanely fast.

When are you going? I might be able to shuttle you back to your cars

The left half (between 0.0mi and ~4.5mi) is your elevation profile for this hike, btw.

Here's my trip report (http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=261497) from a winter dayhike of that section.
