It seems to me that the most important accessory for YakTrax is appropriate footwear. For those of you who have had experience with the tireless wonders, is there a footwear feature that is recommended?

It seems to me that the most important accessory for YakTrax is appropriate footwear. For those of you who have had experience with the tireless wonders, is there a footwear feature that is recommended?
Mine work quite well with my running shoes. As wonderful as YakTrax are, you must check them constantly to make sure they are not about to pull off of your shoes. If you do this, and wear them only when they are needed, they can last for quite a while. If you use them when they are not needed, however, you can pinch and break the rubber on sharp rocks, etc.

Thanks. The new ones have a strap that goes over your foot, and are specifically designed for outdoorsy types.
