I've done some hiking and I hike with a bunch of scouts and a few other leaders. Its always good to get new scouts out on the AT. Somewhere along the trail, they will eventually earn a trailname. Its just going to happen. Of course kids being impatient can't comprehend that fact, so to all the AT hikers hoping for a name you'll get one, probably earn it too.

Me, I was tabbed "ankh" by my wife, Egyptian for life. It didn't feel right. Then I was out for a day hike with the troop, coming down a bit of a scramble near High Point, when the rock I was standing on moved, and I'm now "Scrapes". Just feels right. My shoulder and leg are healing nicely.

Why did you change your trail name?

Why did you change your trail name?
The first one didn't mean much - other than being a Neil Young song that I dig, and no one outside of WB knew it - so it wasn't established or anything.

This one comes from me carrying me tobacco pipes and fancy tobacco. Plus, with all the paranoia about violence on the trail and the actual killings that've taken place, I wasn't too keen on introducing myself as Cortez the Killer.
