Walkin' Jim will be performing live at the Triplex Cinema in Great Barrington at 7pm on April 7th. This is a kick off event and fundraiser for the AT Communities project in conjunction with Great Barrington Trails and Greenways <http://gbtrails.org/>. GB Trails, AMC and ATC have a full season of events planned to celebrate connections between the town and the surrounding trails (including the AT). Among the highlights, AT hikers in the area in June will be interviewd by local 6th graders and a radio broadcast created from their work. Efforts are being made to create a camping area in town (near the brew pub), so hikers getting off trail in GB can attend to their town business w/o the high price tag of seasonal lodgings. There are also many non-AT events planned (there are other trails, you know). A full schedule will be posted soon.

Walkin' Jim <http://www.aldha.org/stoltz.htm>, has become an icon for trails and conservation activism. Not only that, he sings pretty good and knows his way around a guitar.

If you haven't seen him before, I would definitely recommend making plans to attend if you are in the area.
