I plan on hiking from the ATL to somewhere in the white mountains in New Hampshire. Two People.

How many Tablets should I buy?
Should I bring them all with me or have them spread out on the drops?
What is the best container to purify water in?
Can you purify in a Camelbak?

Thanks

How many Tablets should I buy?
Figure out haw many liters of water you'll be using a day and do the math from there.

Spread them out or buy them alond the way unless you don't mind the weight and bulk in your pack.

What is the best container to purify water in?
Any container that holds water. I'm partial to quart size Gatorade bottles.

Can you purify in a Camelbak? I don't see any reason why not.

I didn't know Aqua mira came in tabs. I always had the liquid bottles.

Don't bring any; they take too long to treat the water (4 hrs). Bring Aquamira 2 part liquid treatment instead (20 mins).

Aqua Mira tabs takes 4 hours for Crypto so does the two part solution. They both take about 20-30 min for everything else. Read the fine print.

Here is the fine print, I stand by my previous post

I always used to carry just the liquid, but now I carry both tabs and liquid. In a bottle for immediate use I put the liquid. In a bottle for later (4 hrs or more), I'll put a tablet. My Aqua Mira last longer that way. Both have benefits: liquid is faster, tab is lighter.

I just bought a Steripen Adventurer, no more waiting. Aquamira is sooo expensive that one set of bottles is a good down payment on a Steripen. Aquimira doesn't have a good shelf life either. If you don't want to buy a steripen and are put off by the cost of Aquamira, buy PolarPur.

Bought a Steripen last year, but went back to Aqua Mira again this year because I wasn't sure when the steripen was working or not... it didn't seem to light up when it should have. Polar pur tastes awful! Not in the same league as Aqua Mira!

Yeah, it's too bad some hikers can't tolerate mild iodine. Why can't you tell if the Steripen doesn't work? Does it not light up even after new batteries? If not, they have a lifetime warnt so I would think your retailer or Steripen would replace it straight away. There are some mysterious properties to Chlorine Dioxide...maybe one day it will be able to clean you your arteries!
