I just wanted to post about how much trash hikers have been leaving on the trail this year. It's terrible lets all try and do our part as hikers to LNT pack it in and pack it out almost every shelter I have been to there have been bags of trash that hikers have left behind.
How hard is it to PACK OUT YOUR TRASH!! I have carried out more than my share and so have many of the hikers in my group the trail is more packed with thru-hikers this year than past years but come on people lets all do our parts to keep a clean trail for others.

Why do people throw trash along our roads ?
I bet the answer is the same. Laziness and total disrespect for those who actually care about our planet.
Sorry Blue Wolf , it would tick me off too.
We are a disposable culture... It's bread into us to be wasteful, sorry I mean consumers... Consumtion makes waste, wast follows us everywhere we go.. Whatever we eventually evolve into will, i'm sure, puzzle over thier own origin when tracing back through our history, (read garbage). They'll be outraged by our complete inability to put our collective knowledge to a possitive use... Shame really...
I've had success hiking less traveled trails... Less people = less garbage..

Blue Wolf what shelters have you been too and seen this. I saw quite a bit at Gooch and Hawk mt shelters.

I've never carried anything but my own trash out. I committ to carrying out some if not all that I find on the trail. Thanks.
