Thinking of a thru of the BMT in the next year or so since work is slowing.

What month would YOU pick and why?

I'm thinking mid Sept to early Oct -- cooler but not cold, dryer, still plenty of daylight, bow season.

BTW, I say month....three weeks or whatever...don't plan on "only" 10 miles a day! ;)

Winter - I did it, but probably wouldn't say it is the best time. Good views, but some services closed down for the season.

Spring - great chances for wildlife. The services are opening along the trail. Warm days, cold nights good for sleeping.

Summer - I imagine some of the road walks would be hot. But there are lots of good swimming opportunities for the hikers that want to take their time and enjoy them.

Fall. Great leaf changes. Maybe some views opening up. Again, possible warm days and cool nights.

I'll be out there finishing up the last 100 miles or so. It's about time.
