Hey im pretty new here but was hoping for some advice on a weekend hike in maine in the end of april. Im taking a couple friends and was hoping to do 12-20 miles with a campsite in between. (Campsite, lean to, any where to throw a tent up.) Relitivly flat as there is still snow in the mountains. and a loop would be pretty good to but I can't expect that much.

Thanks a bunch,
Matt

I'd look at the section of AT from RT 4 to RT 17. Not high country in comparison to neighboring sections, no fords, and leanto/campsite close to halfway.
Plan on hurdling some blowdowns no matter where you go. Could still be some snow end of April depending on how the meltdown goes.

Look up Gulf Hagas for a good loop and good camping sites. . .

that looks pretty good. Where do you jump on the AT and where exactly should we put a car at the end? or should we hitch hike back?

Also im looking at a strip map of the area. It looks like there is a couple other trails "Trail A" and "B" where do they go?

I don't know anything about trail A & B .
I use the Maine Atlas and Gazette from DeLorme to find my way around these parts.
On my map, I only see one trail between RT 4 & 17 that being the AT.
Good parking area on RT 4.
Hitchhiking around to get back could be a problem in that area, its along way around by road
