I'm planning on hiking about 200 miles next week from Blue Ridge Gap to Hot Springs. Is there a chance that the weather on Clingman would require long-sleeves or even a jacket? Thanks

A chance? Yes. Take something with long sleeves for sure. If it's a cloudy and rainy day then it can get cool. Also, at that altitude in June it CAN get down to 40F at night occasionally.

Also take a tee shirt and shorts. Not for Clingman's, but soon afterward. Remember this is June.

One should be prepared for cooler weather in the smokies..about 34 miles of the trail is above 5000 ft and you can get some cool weather up there even in june...being prepared for 40 degrees should be adequete..hypothermia can happpen to you easily in summer if you are under prepared and get wet.

Thanks for the advice. I'm slackpacking it so I don't have to worry about the nights. I was just concerned about the daytime temperature; I'll bring a jacket!
