I am wanting to purchase a Marmot Original Driclime Windshirt, but upon searching, i found the Marmot Ion Windshirt....
These 2 jackets look identical except the Ion has a hood. Other than the hood, does anyone know of any other differences in the two? thanks.

The Driclime is two-layer -- an outer wind resistant shell, and an inner knit liner, like a base layer inside.

The Ion is just the shell. It's way lighter.

I have both (well, I have the Driclime and several different single-layer wind shirts). They are useful for different things. However, mostly I am bringing the single-layer piece with me lately. It seems more versatile for 3-season use. In the winter, though, I wear my Driclime over a wool base layer and never take it off.

Driclime is a really unique lightweight weather resistant shirt/jacket. I find myself wearing it in non hiking instances.

thanks for the info bigcranky.

I was about to buy the driclime, but i think i will buy the ion because I am more of a multi layering person. plus i just want the hood feature in case.

I'd go with the Ion, the hood can save your butt.

Well, your neck, maybe.
