Hiking Saturday from Luray, Va. to Harpers Ferry W.V.. Looking at the weather it is calling for showers most of the time. Are there any opinions on what the front is like that is bringing the showers, is there a likley hood they will become rain for the 6 day span. If it is going to rain the whole time I might scratch this years section hike. I want to enjoy my break not be miserable. I am not afraid of hiking in the rain, just do not want to be soaked the whole time any opinions.

I'll be doing my section hike around that time too. Showers means that - on and off again. Just have your raingear, pack cover, etc. They can come and go.

I doubt it will rain the entire time.

"Showers" usually means that it may pour or it may not rain at all, but it probably won't be all day rain. But what do they know?

I was relooking at the weather, doesn't look too bad from my standpoint. I'd say go for it if this is the time you've got. The percentages of rain is so iffy.

Even if it does rain, a foolproof way to stop it is to take your pack off and put on your rain shell. Of course, it starts back up again when you take it off.

Weather at higher elevations are more problematic and harder to predict .
Take a rain suit , shoe covers and couple pairs of smartwool socks and be thankful its not 90 * with 60 % humidity & blood sucking mosquitos everywhere.
