I am trying to plan a week-long hike from Springer late in the season. I was just wondering how late in the year i could go without getting into freezing weather.

Making blanket statements about avoiding freezing temps up here is a crap shoot. We have had freezing temps as early as late Sept. But you could also find yourself hiking in the 80s during that date range. But I would say that late September to the first week of October will normally keep you above freezing.
