I think it aptly combines the day: A very pagan foundation with a Christian topping. :)

Anyway, I just thought it was funny photo. Nothing more. :)

Good luck.....should be a wonderful journey!

And let's not forget our friends of the other part of the Judaic-Christian faiths. Happy Charlton Heston week!

great. a holiday with no day off. screw easter. Most holidays (Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Veteran's Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving) are about honoring others' sacrifices. I find your 'what's in it for me?' attitude sickening. :(

Four questions to ponder during Charlton Heston week...

Why is this post different from all other posts on White Blaze?

The great Rabbi Hillell states that when speaking of Bunnies on white blaze that we should eat gorp between two loafs of unleavened bread.

Why do we make bitter posts on WB?

It reminds us of what cranky SOBs some of us are...

Why do we double dip on the posts tonight?

Because some of us have editing access due to donations

Why do we lean on a pillow tonight?

Because not everyone is an UL hiker and wants their luxury items...

(Mags...who has been to more Passover Seders than Easter dinners the past few years.....)

We're glad you're Jewish, too.
As far as many Christians are concerned (a minority, I have to admit), the whole Easter holiday is just nonsense. Most of it is paganism disquised as religion to make secular retailers richer. However, to all Christians, the Resurrection is what Christianity is all about, and that's a matter of faith. And celebration.
Don't be offended: I think we should be celebrating the Passover, too, not only as a bonding thing with our Judean heritage, but also to celebrate freedom. What a better role-model for the escape from oppression that that?

Could you please explain? (I initially typed in just a "?" but WB says I have to have at least 10 characters to post).

My closest friends (http://www.pmags.com/joomla/index.php/component/option,com_gallery2/Itemid,36/?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=18897) in town are Jewish and they are kind enough to invite me over for Seder every year. (Except this year.. :( They are with their family in NYC. Partially to celebrate Passover; mainly to see the new niece in the family as well. My friends (half!) jokingly said they'd look for some nice Jewish family to adopt me for the holiday. :) ) At least once a month I also have Shabbat dinner with them, too.....

Easter, for me growing up, was a very family focused holiday. I do not have many friends who celebrate Easter. I DO have friends who are like family to me who celebrate Passover. Hence why I've been to more Seder dinners than Easter. Though I did have them over my place last year for some rice pie (http://foodblogga.blogspot.com/2008/03/traditional-italian-easter-rice-pie.html). :)

For the record, Jesus was Jewish, not Arab.

And celebrating Passover was the last thing He did before being executed. Christian Resurrection celebrations should properly include a Passover celebration too, really. Actually I've done it that way.

He is risen indeed. :)

We've done a Seder as part of our Holy Week afew times. Alot of cool Christian symbology in there.
