Three of us are going to take a hike this summer, (mid-june) and I 'm wondering what would be a good spot to go hiking. we are looking to hike about 40 mile and would, like to go north of virginia. So where in penn., marlyland area. We normal go hiking twice a year and are not not looking for a strenous hike. thanks

You will be in the height of the thru hiking season on the AT NOBO, just to let you know. Not a bad thing, but good to know with resources, etc.

Maryland has 40 miles of the trail and is said to be the Autobahn of the AT.
In other words MD is pretty easy walking.

As already mentioned you likely will have company along the way if mid-June is the time frame .

Try hiking from Harper's Ferry North to Caladonia State Park. A little bit of everything on this section.

If you've not caught it during that timeframe, mid June is usually a good bet to catch the rhodo's at Grayson Highlands (Rhododendron Gap area) or Roan Highlands. Worth seeing.

If you like history, the hike from Harpers to the PA border is great.
