Folks,
Not sure if this is the right forum (Trail Issues and History, perhaps?) Just passing on some interesting info. There is a web address at the bottom for more info. The Mass AT Committee is not connected with this project, I'm just passing this on as a favor. It's on AT-L as well.

*** The museum is on the brink of becoming a reality. The Appalachian Trail Museum Society Board has worked very hard for several years. They have preserved many A.T. artifacts, including gear from A.T. legends Emma Gatewood, Earl Shaffer, and others.

*

*** The Appalachian Trail Museum has made substantial progress in a short time. The board has come to appreciate that launching a museum from scratch is a daunting task, and takes satisfaction in reaching some important milestones.

*

*** The society is incorporated as an independent, non-profit organization solely dedicated to starting and running a museum. An enthusiastic board has been elected. Its members have many years of involvement with the Appalachian Trail, wide-range experience and are diversified geographically.

*

*** The museum has its own newsletter, the A.T. Museum News, which marks our commitment to communicating with our members and to work with all segments of the A.T. community.
