I want to publicly acknowledge that the gathering at Standing Bear was awesome. There was little or no trouble, the food was awesome, the music was awesome and the company was great. These two never cease to amaze me with their generosity. I have been going to Standing Bear for a few years now and its one of my favorite places. Curtis has become a dear friend and I just want to let you all know that I highly recommend you all stop in. Up until the time we left, everyone was behaving themselves and being respectful. Not sure how it was into the night. Anyway, thanks Curtis and Maria for being great hosts!!!! I love you guys!!!! Rockhound, I guess you are ok too:D

For those fortunate enough to be at the bash spread the word. The first annual Standing Bear Bash was fantastic. Great food, great music, great people and a perfect location. Next year will be even better. Thanks to everybody who helped out.

well there was potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, dip, lemonade, iced tea etc.. and if you brought a boca burger we would have been happy to grill it. If you don't like live bluegrass, campfires, laughing and dancing I can't help you there.

Just my luck, we arrived at Waterville Rd on Tuesday morning. Heard a lot of good things about the party though...next to the bear stories, that was all most NBers' were talking about.

Is standing bear the place right off over I40?

Yes, where the AT crosses I40. Up the gravel road a bit.

They probably fought over the cracklins. The skin, golden brown and crunchy is usually the first thing gone. :D
