I am going to start walking north at Fontana Dam the first week of may. The trail profile on the map I have for smokey mnt. nat. park isn't very good and as I use the profile more than the map or guide I was wondering if anyone knew of a better one.

Click on the state on the AT map you want (North Carolina), and get the various sections. I've used these for other sections and they are awesome...very accurate in most cases.

The Appalachian pages book is great, it has all the mileage you need, and the profiles. Good and cheap.

I found a great site for profile maps for the whole trail. Here's the link, and thanks for all the help. http://www.scribd.com/doc/5125936/Appalachian-Trail-Elevation-Profiles
