Hi everyone. I'm getting back into backpacking after too many sedentary years. Anyway, I'm looking at getting my first tent, and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about the Mountain Hardwear Air Jet 2. It won Outside's "Gear of the Year" award (http://http://tinyurl.com/2hfpw), but there's only one mention of it in the Gear Forums. Anyone use this? Would it be good for the AT (I'm heading south from Maine in 2006) and camping around the southeast? Anyone tall use it? I'm 6'5"/250lbs, and several tents I've tried have been really cramped.

On a slightly related note, I'll be hiking south (I know, I know, northbound is better/more social/more normal--I can't start until mid-June because of school). That means I'll be rolling into Georgia around December. Should I be looking at four-season tents instead? Thanks for any help!

Quick follow-up: I popped into the local REI and lo and behold, they had a sample AirJet 2 up. (Not all that surprising, since the Outdoor best-of list was sponsored by REI.) It seems like a pretty good size for me. I can sit up in it, and even though I do come close to spanning the entire length, when I lie in my normal sleeping position, it fit pretty well. There seemed to be a goodly amount of room for a pack without it being underfoot all the time. Overall, it seems like a pretty good solo tent for a big guy like me. Just need to save up the cash. :D
