I started working on this page a long time ago and it has not been updated in a long long time. I got sidetracked.

There is some good links to read though so I thought I would post it in the 2010 thru hikers section and let the 2010 thru hikers see it.

If anyone knows of any other threads that might be helpful to add to this page please let me know and I will update the page.

AT Trolls good threads reference reads (http://www.whiteblaze.net/index.php?page=Trolls%20info)

Great page, there's some terrific stuff there. Suggestion; I noticed you have a glasses thread under hygene, which is a great thing. A lot of us wear contact lenses, instead. I remember there are several thread on them. Could one of them be included, or perhaps a compilation of some of the better posts?

Been wearing contacts every day of my life for right at 40 years (wince!). I'd be happy to help.

I am leaving now to head out and do some trail maintenance but I will search for these other threads you are talking about later. If you know where any of them are or find them list them here and I will add them.

Trail maintenance. I'm so jealous. I have a ton of yard work to do today; maybe if I repeat it enough times, I can come to believe I'm really maintaining a trail. :D

More popular topic than I thought. Here are several of the major threads for contacts:

Did you want all of them added? I added all of them for now.

My first thought was that it might be overkill, but I do like the way they're listed. If you like, I'll scour through the various threads to see if I can ID the one with the most useful info, and perhaps other lens wearers will chime in. I also wonder: is it possible to combine posts into a single thread without a lot of work? (Probably easier just to post the most informative.)

Well, if each thread is repetitive then there is no need to list all seven of them but if there is a little bit in each thread that has some information that the other thread does not have then we can leave all seven.

OK, finally did what I should have done in the first place. Read each one, did an analysis of the info actually in each one, and now have some better recommendations. I was hoping some of the other "experts" at hiking with contacts would weigh in, but I guess you're stuck with a section hiker! :D

You're right, there's a whole lot of repetition there, so we could certainly cut it down. The first thread is really good for contacts, including techniques and equipment. Thread three is darned good, as well, but veers way off into various surgeries to fix eyes, such as LASIX and lens replacements for cataracts. Good stuff, but probably not exactly what we're looking for for this page. The rest are repetitions and subsets of the others.

I'd go with the first one. Seemed to me to make the most sense. Thanks a whole lot for letting me help. I appreciate it, a lot.

Thank you for the help. I wished I could have helped but I have not worn contacts in over 20 years and can no longer wear them.
