It was modeled after Talkeetna but filmed in Roslyn, Washington.

I miss Alaska; spent seven years up there beginning in 74. Many's the day I wish I hadn't left. Wonder how Talkeetna and other places I've been have changed? Must go back and see some day.

Back to the beer. I'd certainly give it a try and use my very amateur judging skills to compare it to the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) guidelines for the appropriate style, and even give a report back here. But it doesn't seem to be available yet. (Darn!)

Just pointing out what some don't know- it is after all, a PBS show now. Heaven forbid, someone learn something from PBS.

LTA is a solid beer. I usually pick up a six pack before a trip while i pack, Which usually leads to forgetting something. But still a good beer :D

That's why I own two pack covers now. . . . first one was 'forgotten' last year while packing to head to Katahdin. . . . something about beer and an all-nighter. . . .

Not that it's really relevant, but I'm drinking a Woodstock Inn Pig's Ear Brown Ale right now. Brewed just a few miles south of the AT where it crosses Rt. 3 (93) in NH. Good hearty stuff.

I recently discovered that Moosehead now makes an Oatmeal Stout.
They used to make a Stout years ago. This Oatmeal Stout is better methinks.
Not a beer for the woods, but would be real good with a heavy meal back in town.
It is called St.Amboise Oatmeal Stout. I believe there is a French connection...

They claim it's the same alcohol content as regular beer when diluted so I wonder two things: what it would taste like undiluted and just how drunk it would make you in that form....

That calls into question it's legality in certain locations. If it's 5% by volume (approximately) diluted and according to the website it is 95% concentrated, that would make it well over 90% by volume in it's concentrated state. I know that is illegal in certain locations, Floida being one of them. I recently tried to get ahold of some Sam Adams Utopias (27% by volume) and could not due to a state law restricting alcohol content in beer.

As for how drunk it would make you...drink too much and you will die.

Condensed beer is nothing new. All the major labels have been doing it for years to move beer from makers to bottlers. I was on a job several years ago where Bud was brought in in big tanker railroad cars and all the bottling plant did was add water and CO2. Wonder if these guys are just buying condensed beer from other contract makers and reselling it with their "Custom" carbonators ....
