Pics of this are in my photo album here at WB.
Rubber stoppers were chosen because they were available in the house. They do offer good flex but keep the umbrella upright. I tried it with one but needed 2 to get enough rubber to hold the bolt and the umbrella shaft. The bolt is LiquidNailed into place inside the stopper and the bottom reinforced with glue and dental floss 'sewn' into the stopper.

Total weight is 2 hairs over 12oz.....WHICH IS TOO HEAVY....Valcour at Luxurylite promises a 4oz solution, details to come when Bruce deems it time.

Benefits of the Modified Golite Umbrella are that you can walk in the rain and hold both poles, and unscrew the wingnut and you have a mobile umbrella around camp.

Next- I'm looking for an antanea mount that has a spring at the base, would be lighter than the rubber stoppers but maybe not as comfortable as the stoppers are in hand.

A fun cheap mod if you already have a Golite umbrella and dont mind experimenting.
