hello,
i'm planning a nobo (starting July 13) i have the LT guide and the end to ender's guide. i'm thinking of taking both books with me while E2E? are both books over kill or do most people bring them along?

thanks!

The two books don't overlap so much that you could leave one home and still have all of the information you might want, particularly if you plan to head into town once in awhile. I carried both on my first E-2-E, and used them both often. Now that I'm familiar with the trail I'm not carrying either (just the map), but will have a lot of information and numbers in my Blackberry.

Most people bring the Iliad or the unabridged hardcover version of The Stand by Stephen King. . . .

E to E and copy (xerox) maps. It is helpful to know mileage and contours. AT maps are available for the AT/LT overlapping sections south of Killington.

I hiked with only the E2E, and it had everything I needed. I think carrying both books is overkill, unless you don't mind the extra weight.
