Three excellent bear books I've recently read. Got them from the library no less (mostly thru ILL), so you don't need to spend a dime. I highly recommend them. Changed my thinking about bears.

Grizzly Seasons: Life with the Brown Bears of Kamchatka, by Charles Russell and Maureen Enns

I agree about "Grizzly Years" being a real classic!

An interesting book I rec'd for Christmas from a sweety here at WB is called : Among the Bears. It is about raising orphaned bear cubs in Lyme, NH. The bears were not totally caged but had a lot of time in the wild. Neat concept on raising bears to be able to grow up and remain wild. -- WHen I hike thru NH I saw some of the signs regarding these tagged bears on the trail just before you head up to Hexacuba Shelter.

The URL link I posted for Grizzly Seasons doesn't work from Whiteblaze, at least from my computer, so go to Amazon or your library and check it out. You won't be disappointed.

The URL links for the other two books work.

Grizzly Years: In Search of the American Wilderness, Doug Peacock

Doug Peacock was the inspiration for Edward Abbey's character Hayduke from The Monkeywrench Gang.
