Hi all, 4 days to go now and I was wondering what the weather in SNP has been like this week and if there have been any forecasts for next week?

Thanks, Spencer

That page has links to current conditions and forecasts. The past few days have been rainy and the next few have a chance for rain as well. Water is definitely plentiful in the park right now.

Rodney has been running shuttles up there much of the day. Mostly Central District. Fog is so thick near Big Meadows Wayside you can only guess where to turn. Not safe.

Hiking would be a little better than driving—until nightfall. Then it would be very easy to get lost.

Weather may improve by Thursday. The weekend shows a 40% chance of rain Saturday, but it probably won't be as wet as it's been the last few days. Other days even better. Good news is all the talk of drought has ceased!

You can check weather forecasts for SNP district-by-district, and north and south of the Park, by going to his website:

Rainy and cool so far. Projected to hit 70s by this weekend in the valley.

It has been very wet-in the valley there has been road closings due to flooding. I know in the George Washington Nat Forest (which borders my property) there has been a few minor mud/rock slides due to the saturated soil. I would stay away from the edge of the trail where there is drop off's due to the slippery and saturated conditions. Fog is another concern as well. Take your time, be extra cautious and play it safe.
