I've been lurking around here for a while and thought it was time to introduce myself. I've recently rediscovered hiking for a few different reasons, the main one being that I need to lose weight. I used to hike and backpack when I was in my teens and early twenties but just kind of stopped as other interests took over. I've done a few 4 to 8 mile day hikes this spring and am really enjoying it. These have all been between Port Clinton and Rte 501 so far but I'm planning on slowly expanding outward and get some overnights in before it gets too hot. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello.

Hi Bronconite. Walking up and down hills a few hours a day is definitely one of the best ways to lose weight.

Unfortunately for me the highest hills close to me are only about 40-50 feet.

I've walked all of the south over the last 10 years and have been loving it. I'll be doing central PA and beyond the next couple. Lots of nice rocky ridges and a few climes to burn the extra calories! Maybe we'll see ya on the trail! Best of luck to you.
