Has anyone done mail drops with ISO Butane canisters?

If so any problems or tips ??

You can mail them surface mail only, just get the little sticker with the airplane on it with the line running through (to denote they cannot go by plane). There is no problem mailing canisters via USPS. I did it several times on my hike. Make sure you mail them far in advance as surface takes time.

I did it once on a long distance bike trip. You really have to know the rules and regulations, because most post office employees don't. It took a lot of explaining on my part to get them to mail it and then they lost it, took about 3 months for me to get that package.

Just not worth the trouble on the AT, plenty of outfitters along the way. The only place I couldn't get any was thru SNP camp stores, but not a problem since it's widely available in Waynesboro and Front Royal.
