Anyone have suggestions for parking for a week + during a hike between Dicks Creek and Fontana dam. We'll be leaving a car at each end for this trip. Thanks.

Both ends have parking areas. I've parked at both places and never had a problem.

In 2007 my buddy and I contacted The Hike Inn [828-479-3677]drove there and Jeff shuttled us down to Dicks Creek Gap and we hiked to the dam, called and his wife picked us up and took us to the car. That way we only needed one car. We were coming from north Alabama.

I've hiked GA for approx 30 years and I've never had a problem parking anywhere. However, having said that I don't like leaving my car on a paved road if there are other options available. If this was my trip I'd check with the Blueberry Patch hostel and see if I could pay to leave a car there before I'd leave it at Dicks Creek.

Hit enter too soon...

I'd also check about parking at the Hike Inn before leaving a car at Fontana.

I have left my car at Dicks creek trailhead for a week in July. No problems.

For the Dick's Creek end you could park at the Hiawasee Inn and have them shuttle you up to the trail. Nice folks, they cater to hikers and shuttle all over that area. Good prices.

Our group just left two cars at Fontana Dam last week with no issues.

Just returned from a week in GA and left the car at Dick's Creek Gap with no problems. It is a heavy use area but no problems at all.

We left our Jeep at Fontana Dam most of last week and through the weekend without any issues. They ask that you park in the upper lot, but a volunteer at the dam told me to park under the lights near the grassy area down below. We parked about 10 spaces toward the lake from the doors to the showers.

I left my car in Fontana Dam with a note on the inside windshield with my name and the approximate time I was going to return (a little over a week) so the park rangers would be aware it was a hikers car and would be mindful of it. Just a suggestion. Pony Express

Pony Express,
I just noticed your location...I'm originally from Beaver Island. Been through Charlevoix dozens of times through the years, but not much recently. Still a tourist trap I assume?

Still a trap - that's why I am leaving for the summer :)
