Woke up to a bear nipping at my toes on through my hammock Friday night. Then he pawing at my pack so I had to kick at him and finally he left for a little while. Then came back messing with some thru-hikers tents and hammock. (Carolina, Old-School, RainDancer, Raspberry Finally we all got up made a bit of noise and then Old-School hit him with his belt and he wondered off.
Then the bear was back in the morning just walking around and through the camp. Long as we gave him 10-15 feet he didn't care about us. needless to say we skipped breakfast that morning.
Suggest you hang food and back packs on cables provided. He is not scared of humans in the least.
