does the gold exist on blood? what really happened? not looking for links to sites about books on the gold of blood mountain. looking for what hikers think happened and local lore. i belive ive allways known a spot on a severe switchback on the north slope under a bus size rock is a cave.

I'm sure there's still gold in there somewhere. It's just a matter of getting at it legally and easily. Beyond that, got no idea.

Here's a link to some more information (http://ngeorgia.com/history/goldrush.html):

Never has been a gold find on Blood Mt. Gold was discovered in the small community, south of Dahlonega, in and around the Etowah River.
Legend has it that a battle was fought on the Mt. and Slaughter Gap, between the Creek and Cherokee tribes. I've been walking all over that hill for 30 plus years, and have never found any evidence of a battle. The battle was so intense and bloody, the streams were said to have "ran with blood". You would think an arrowhead or two would turn up from time-to-time. No artifacts (that I know of ) have ever been found.

Supposed to be a vein running under the Smith House, but, that place is a goldmine in itself.
