Trail near Rutland, VT

I am trying to pick up the trrail and head northwards around Rutland where I will be dropping the rental car off at. Any idea how close it is and how easy it is to find?

The trail is quite easy to get to from Rutland and I beleive there is a regional shuttle that runs up from Rutland along Rt 4 that would drive right by the trail crossing. Unless you are purist, take the shuttle up to the Inn at the Long Trail, grab some lunch and pick up the old AT which joins the new ATa very short distance in the woods. The actual trail crossing is down the hill from the Inn.

i believe there is a public bus that runs from rutland up the hill to the trail crossing on rt. 4
