I haven't checke it in depth, but it looks good. When do you plan to get a domain name?

It's in the works now, we're just waiting on final approval. Should be just a matter of days at this point.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox, and your page will not render.

I'd love to look at your site, and I'd like for you to know that there are a whole host of people who will probably have this same problem.

Well, looks like it is not built according to W3C standards and only runs on proprietary software, so it won't render for me.
You might want to install half a dozen browsers on different computers (and different monitors) and test your site on all of them. (or get friends to be beta testers for you) The good sites do something like that.

Best of luck on getting it up and running on the WORLD Wide Web (not the Microsoft Wide Web). LOL

OK on Opera. I looked at your source and noticed you used Mickey Soft Powerpoint to generate it. That may explain things.

I would reccomend changing servers. It looks like whatever you are using is VERY slow and prone to TCP/IP errors, possibly because of low bandwith. It almost looks like you are using a PC as a server with a static IP over cable or ADSL.

Also, try importing the files into some software like SiteAid, then clean them up and pulish them again. The site looks good, but parts of your errors people are seeing may be from the proprietary software putting some sort of coding in there that doesn't completly adhere to HTML standards.

Also, get your site domain registered and get it propogated (sp?). That isn't expensive or hard. It just takes up to two weeks for all DNS servers to list it, so get started early.

Smee, the page loads a bit slowly, and I enjoyed reading your story. Thanks for posting it! Best wishes in whatever ventures you undertake. Next year I will have as many years in retirement as I had on active duty, and they are continuing as wonderful years!

I have a recommendation for who to get your domain name through. But you can take this advice or not. It is your choice. I like it because I can do all my chages online without dealing with the phone. I use GoDaddy. You can check them out at www.godaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com).

Great site! Didn't realize we're from the same backyard :) (I work in the shipyard in NN)

now I won't have to pay for shipping when I finally save up enough for my own underquilt!

Thanks to all for the comments. It's still a work in progress. Hopefully the site will mature and improve as I learn more about this stuff. All your comments are helpful.

Nice job. Boy, I like that 8x8 tarp! Now do not get too cute on a domain name. Find one that reflects the products you offer, or at least a related category, eg. hikinghq.net.

O.K. I've converted all the Powerpoint and Word pages to Front Page. Does that help those of you that couldn't access the site before? I still have some cleaning up to do. Appreciate your feedback.

What will your domain name bee when it gets geristered, it is a lot easier to pass that on then to remember you IP string. Also, you may want to consider taking the images you use to make the two jacks logo (very cool idea BTW) and edit that in a image editing software like Corel Photoshop to make it one standard image such as a .gif or .jpg - I think some of the loap problems some people experience may be because of the way the image is designed using Microsoft stuff. All the image roate and setting may be the cause.
