thx for all the advice on the altitude thing guys! im planning on aug 1st 2010, so then i could get a chance to see the perseids meteor shower while im up there. Any other good advice i can get from hikers who have done it and ran into unexcpected problems or concerns...

My advice would be to slow down and enjoy the trip. As a good hiker friend of mine says...The journey is the destination.
The JMT has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Enjoy it. It's not like us right coast guys get to see that everyday.
