I was browsing through, reading up on PLBs when I came across this 'first-use' report. I then wanted to know the conditions which warranted such rescue, so off to Google I went. This account leaves much to be desired for how people view these devices. Maybe that was why the FCC and Air Force were reluctant to see this PLB in use. I didn't think the first use was warranted, given his condition and supplies. It was nice to hear they laid down the law after his second use (and heli rescue).
