Leave a trace! If you bike, hike, trail run, climb, ski, snowshoe, etc. you use a trail. And what better day to give back that on National Trails Day? Too much in grained working class Catholic guilt. I feel the need to give back..and it ain't work unless I'm sweating. :D

Not everyone can work on a major trail like the AT,PCT,CDT etc...but there are plenty of places around that can use your help. There is always more to do..but even one weekend of your time helps a lot. :)

The Smoky Mountain Hiking club will be doing NTD maintenance from Newfound gap to Siler's Bald. We have about 160 folks signed up, but could always use a few extra hands. Volunteers will be meeting at Sugarlands visitor center starting at 7:30 am, or you can meet us up on the mountain later in the morning.

SATC offers a choice this year: a work trip or a hike around the ATC office in Boiling Springs - see June 6 on http://www.satc-hike.org/hikes.html

The Georgia Appalachian Trail Club is having an event at Stone Mountain Park tomorrow for National Trails Day. I think I'll head over there in the morning to check it out.
