I am doing a thru hike of the SNP starting July 1. My group is heading out from Ashby gap and going south into SNP. The group is getting off the trail at Thorton Gap. I plan to head on by myself through the rest of the park and get off at Waynesboro. What are the “don’t miss” things about SNP? Favorite places to stop for food? Side trails? Waterfalls? I would love to hear your suggestions.

Old Rag is a great climb but would take an extra day at least. Whiteoak Canyon falls are nice as are South River Falls. Also go down past the Picosin cabin on a side trail for ruins of an old mission
Bearfence Rock Scramble for views
All in the central section of the park.

In south, Blackrock rock scramble for views
Loft Mtn Wayside for the blackberry shake
