I would leave the underwear at home.

Are you wearing something in addition to the list? If that's all you're bringing, and if it's a summer hike, it looks pretty good. I wouldn't bring T-shirts, especially cotton. You might consider a head net for bugs. And light glove liners, but you can use a spare pair of socks. You have enough to stay warm if you get cool wet weather in the Whites if you keep moving, and it looks like a pretty flexible layering system.

I have a patagonia and a north-face t-shirt- they are not cotton.

Sounds just like my list minus the fleece, but you are farther north so the fleece is probably a good idea

I would only take one short sleeve and one long sleeve shirt.

I'd carry rain pants for the Presidentials, at least. If nothing else, carrying them will guarantee 70 degrees, no wind and sunny on Mt. Washington, instead of 40, heavy rain and 60 mph winds.

Agree, Snowleopard, I didn't notice there were no rainpants. In wet cold, you'll want that extra layer, just like you do on top.

top: shirt, fleece, rainjacket bottom: shorts, tights, rainpants

Don't discount it being cold, even in July

I didn't see any pants. I would not go hiking anytime of year without pants with zip off legs.

then there will be no need for Underarmor leg tights, right?

Okay so it seems like rainpants are defiantly something I need to consider

I'm serious about mittens and a toboggan. Take a look at a wind-chill chart. A balaclava will no longer seem silly. A full rain suit would be on my list too.

Any of the longer above treeline sections in a gale-driven rainstorm will make a believer of you.

It makes sense to mail extra warm clothes to the beginning of the White Mtns in NH. It'll probably be fine weather, but better to be prepared for the worst. And as I said, the worst is cold windy and wet. If the weather is bad don't go above treeline.
I'm not very familiar with Maine, so I don't know when you can mail the extras home.

Cold weather gear can be mailed to Hanover or preferably Glencliff and will need to be retained until Katahdin.

Rain pants. Gloves or mittens. I would only carry one t-shirt.

When you stop at a public laundromat to do your laundry your going to need something to wear whey your shorts are in the washer. If you had rain pants you could wear them while doing your laundry as rain pants generally do not need to be washed.

I hike with pants(with zip off legs), rainpants and shorts, except in the middle of the summer I may not bring rain pants if it seems warm enough to get by without them.

I picked up rainpants the other day- and plan only to bring one of my t-shirts- I THINK I AM GOOD TO GO!
