What good things are there to stop and see and do on the AT between Newfound Gap and Cades Cove in mid-October ???.

A whole lot of mountain peaks, all different. On Thunderhead, you climb up through a rhododendrum tunnel to a little "room" carved out of it, climb up on a pile of boulders, and poke your head and shoulders above the vegetation like a gopher. A little while later comes Rocky Top, which is mostly an open ridge, with a big carved up rock as the summit. Clingman's Dome with the observation tower, of course.
