Hi all,

I have an Osprey Aura 65 backpack which is great in every way except I find the shoulder pads to be lacking in padding. They're fine for 20lbs but not for 30-35lbs (which is well within the advertised range) and just dig into my shoulders. Has anyone attempted to "add" padding to an otherwise well-loved pack? I thought maybe to wrap a washcloth around each shouldstrap at the top.

Opinions? :-?

I cut the ends off a pair of painting mitts and slid them over the hipbelt for extra padding.

I have an Atmos 50 with the same issue. I haven't done it but I contemplated trying a couple of seat belt pads/1 for each shoulder strap to add padding.

There is quite a few ideas to solve the issue. First before you try anything, haveyou worn the hip belt tighter and the sholder straps looser? Then after that slide some gloves or thick socks under the straps and have some small saftey pins to support the straps. After that closed cell foam cut into strips and hot glued into the right places.

Make the hip belt tighter, and put it up on your hips. the shoulder straps are for keeping the load from moving front to back.

Thanks! I'll try messing around with hip-belt tightness first, as it is a pretty comfortable hip belt IMO, then go to plan B with the seat belt padding and/or socks.
