We are a group of three starting a section hike thru Shenandoah Saturday June 20th and need a ride to the trail head. We will pay for your time and services, so if you were planning on heading out that day anyway why not make some extra $$$. Ideally we would like to leave Big Meadows between 8:00 and 9:00 am.

Let me know if you are interested so we can arrange time and price.

Cheers!

They are super expensive, about $150 for the trip. Thanks for the heads up though.

What were you expecting to pay for a shuttle?

I guess that's why I was hoping to hitch a ride not a shuttle. I figured somebody who was planning on heading down that way wouldn't mind going a little extra distance to earn some cash anyway. I know I'd be willing to do that myself so figured there might be others like me out there.

I agree that price for a shuttle between those 2 points is pretty steep, especially when they're not too far apart.

But the problem regarding any official "shuttler" and those 2 points is that they're both IN SNP, and only directly connected by Skyline Drive... so any shuttler is going to have to leave their hometown, drive up into the park, down to Rockfish, then back home, which is not many miles for the rider, but quite a lot for the shuttler... which ends up being much more $ than if the rider were just getting a lift to the shuttler's town.

I wish I had an easy answer to your question... I've been researching this myself as I may be hiking SNP this summer and rely on public transportation and shuttles for my hikes. I can understand why the shuttler would ask for $150, but I probably wouldn't want to pay it either.
