I'm very new to this site && backpacking/hiking/trekking in general.
I'm having a hard time with the slang in most posts.
i.e. PCT, VVR, MTR.
Can someone explain what they mean?

That's a list of some of the more commonly used trail terms and slang put together into an article.
Just take some time to get used to it. It's really no different from walking into any other new territory. If you walked into a computer technicians conference and didn't know anything about computers, you'd be just as lost among the technical terminology. Same thing if you stumbled into a conversation between 2 old military guys. Acronyms and slang come with every subject out there. Trust me, it doesn't really take long to get used to it. :D
