These questions is to those of you out there that have used a bounce box on a long distance hike.
1.)What were contents of you bounce box?
2.)How far ahead on average would you bounce it?
The contents of the box changed as my hike progressed. It was a way for me to resupply film, ibuprofin, maps, try out new gear (by boucing my old "trusty" gear up the road just in case), etc, etc. I usually bounced it 2 resupplies up the trail, to make sure that it had time to make it to the destination before I did. My bounce box gave me the confidence to try tarps, alcohol stoves, and carrying only a few pages of the databook rather than the whole thing. I usually sent the thing priority because you can forward it for free that way if you don't need it, but most of the time I found myself needing to get into it, so I don't know if I would send it that way each time next time around...
