I'm leaving for a 4 day hike in a few hours. I wrote down everything as I put it in my pack. Weather will be highs in the 80s with lows to upper 50s with isolated t-storms the last 2 days. Please take a look at the list and let me know any areas for improvement....thx

Thats it except for food which is all clif bars, mtn house meals, and instant coffee...4 days worth. I wish I had a scale to see what the pack weighs with & without water.

Nice list, I love making lists! It is a great tool to see what you really need to take. By writing it down it makes me take the time to judge the item. I also like to lay everything out and take a quick glance. I think it's from reading the "Walker" book by Collin too many times as a young man. Love that cover shot!

I just got back from the PA->WV hike (40mi). Turns out the I packed all the right stuff for this trip. The only two items that I did not use the entire time were the head bugnet and the thermal bottoms.

I did get a chance to weigh the pack with all the above items before my trip...

21.5 lbs with no food or water
29.3 lbs with 2 liters of water & 4 days food

I could have gotten away without the sunblock while hiking. In fact I didn't use the sunblock until I got to Harpers Ferry yesterday. I had a few hours to kill before my ride showed up so I put on the sunblock before running around town. You are right though, I could have left the sunblock at home...
