Article doesn't give enough information about the how/why he needed rescuing. He was eating seeds and weeds, but was he immobilized to where he couldn't walk out? Since other hikers found him he couldn't have been very far "off the beaten path." Strange . . .

965,000 square miles is a lot to get lost in. Glad he's back safely.

This guy got lost about 2 miles from where I was camping near Mt Solitary, he got lost on a Friday and I was camping on a Sat. He most likely got lost on the "route" up Solitary, it's not well marked and obscure in places. Plus, he's English, they can't even play tennis let alone hike : )

The "freezing" conditions they talk about are not all that cold, the valleys of the Blue Mountains don't get all that cold in winter, but the ridges are nasty and that's where the towns, and weather reports, are located. Saying that, no shelter, no bag, no warm clothing, pretty impressive!
