I spent 6 days backpacking Isle Royal last August and it proved to be a splendid corner of our country. It is definitely worthy to place on your hiking to-do list.
I'm interested to know if anyone has paddled the Island--the periphery or some of the inland lakes. Noting the map, there are a good number of campsites that are only accessible by canoe/kayak. I would expect that it would be a whole different by boat.
