Has anyone built an Excel or Word template that lets them keep track of gear and gear weight? I know it's not a big development task, but no sense re-creating the wheel if there is one out there. Thanks, Joel

I use a spreadsheet to track wieght of items. I divide into groups of general (tent, sleeping bag, etc), cooking, clothes, medical, etc. I have a small digital scale that I weigh everything on and log in the weights. I use a column to place a checkmark of items that I will carry on a particular trip. A summary section by group then shows the entire weight.
The process has been fun and allowed me to focus on the weights of items not needed, but that tend to add up.

Google docs (http://docs.google.com/) has the best spreadsheet for this purpose. You can view/edit it from anywhere and you can share it without having to email a copy.

And you don't have to worry about compatibility issue like you would with M$ products.

I concur.3What is your purpose in creating such a huge page by adding a bunch of "enters" with the number following? We readers don't like to have to scroll down to see nothing, and I'm sure the WB owners would appreciate you being a considerate poster! ;)
