We are wanting to do a hike where we jump on the AT at Carver Gap and then hike to the Overmountain Victory trail and use that to connect us down to Sugar Hollow Rd, in Roan Moutain, TN. We started on the Overmountain Victory Trail this morning (again at the end of Sugar Hollow). We thought we would run into the AT and the shelter but never got there. I am not sure if we did not go far enough or what. We got to the top of the ridge line and it looked as though the trail started going down which did not make sense. I really wanted to hook up with the AT today so that we would have a point of reference on where we would be jumping off to get back to Sugar Hollow.

I am curious if we are hiking on the AT starting from Carvers gap and heading north will the Overmountain Victory tril be clearly marked so that we don't have to worry about missing it? So that we can get back to our intended destination?

Any input would be great.

Thanks,
Rich

This sign is right on the AT byte blue Blaze to the shelter.
