Has anyone ever seen powdered Almond Milk? I know it is a long shot but it would be great to have on trips. I don't think that it would dehydrate well (I could be wrong though).

Sarbar and I both picked some up at Uwajimaya (http://www.uwajimaya.com/) awhile back. I haven't done anything with it yet. Actually forgot I had it... It is in a little canister a lot like Nido.

I don't think I would try and dry it either... too much sugar.

There's a brand called EcoMil. It's available online.

And a quick google gives a recipe to make it yourself here: http://www.vegetarian-cooking-recipes-tips.com/almond-milk.html

Thanks Spindle... however that recipe isn't true almond milk as it uses actual milk. The EcoMil was what I was looking for. We make our own almond milk at home but a dried product is a must-have for something I am working on.

I just dug the can out of my pantry... I have a different brand. Poma Almond Powder (http://www.asiamex.com/proddetail.cfm?CFID=442707&CFTOKEN=224797&ItemID=1108&CategoryID=2&SubCatID=4). I don't remember paying $8.50 for it though. More like $6-7?

If you're just after almond flavor, and not something more exotic, you can add almond-flavored Coffeemate to powdered milk and water.

I sometimes do that for breakfast in the woods: Put dry cereal in a pint ziploc, add a mixture of almond coffeemate and powdered milk, seal well. Just add some water in camp, mix it up inside the ziploc, and you'll have a delicious breakfast you can eat right out of the pouch.

Works well with almost any dry cereal, but I prefer one of the whole grain cereals with almonds, raisins, dates, etc.

Hi Skyline.... I'm actually looking for something preservative and dairy-free.

I can't do the powdered creamers... It does ugly things to my digestive system. Good alternative if you can stomach it though!
