I learned about CoCoRaHS the other day through an article in my local newspaper. CoCoRaHA is an acronym for Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network. The network was started in 1998 by The Colorado Climate Center at Colorado State University. Essentially it's a national network of volunteer observers who measure and report daily rainfall, snow and hail amounts thru the CoCoRaHS website. The information is then available to climatologists, scientists and the public.

You are required to register on the website, purchase a specific rain gauge, and review the online training program. The cost of the rain gauge is $25.00.

I registered the other day and ordered the rain gauge.

I know a lot of Whiteblaze members are interested in nature, the environment, and weather as well as hiking, and thought you might find this to be of interest.
